Warwick, NY — The Warwick Skatepark Initiative, a dedicated group of local volunteers, is thrilled to announce a major milestone in their decade-long effort to bring a state-of-the-art skatepark to the community. The Initiative extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Vincent Kosuga and Pauline Kosuga Foundation for their generous donation, which has made the construction of the Warwick Skatepark at Veterans Memorial Park a reality. The Vincent Kosuga and Pauline Kosuga Foundation has been dedicated to supporting initiatives that enhance communities through philanthropy, innovation, and civic engagement.
During the Warwick Village Board meeting on December 16, the board approved a resolution accepting a $650,000 grant from the Kosuga Foundation, along with an in-kind donation of $132,000 in equipment and services to prepare the site. This funding ensures the creation of a cutting-edge skatepark that will serve as a vibrant recreational hub for residents and visitors alike.
“This donation is transformational,” said Mayor Michael Newhard. “The Kosuga Foundation’s support, combined with the passion and persistence of the Warwick Skatepark Initiative, is bringing a beautifully designed park to life. It will serve our community for years to come and attract skaters and families from surrounding areas to Warwick.”
Initial site preparation is set to begin immediately, with design work anticipated to be completed in summer 2025. The skatepark will offer a safe, inclusive space for skateboarders, BMX riders, and inline skaters to hone their skills, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.
